gjmueller:

The five locations in Milwaukee are the only postal locations being reviewed in southeastern Wisconsin, and their closure would harm the thousands of low-income and African-American residents that use them, Barrett said. His office estimated that 162,648 residents would lose access to a post office if the five locations closed.

Count me as one of the 162,648 residents who will lose access to a convenient post office. (Yes, I still use postal mail!) My particular location is always busy, and there is rarely more than one postal worker at the counter. I often get packages I have to sign for (grr! annoyance) and have no idea how far I’ll have to travel. Lucky for me I can afford to fill the tank on a reliable mode of transportation to get wherever that will be during limited business hours. The same can’t be said for my neighbours.
